Altitude is a huge advantage at Engeleberg, with most terrain sitting above 1800m in elevation, snow is incredibly reliable, and verticals can be up to 2000m in length. When it’s sunny the views are unbelievable and the towering peaks over an incredible backdrop from every angle.

Skiing and snowboarding Zermatt

Engelberg is a box canyon surrounded by massive peaks which are accessible by 25 lifts and boast 82 kilometres of terrain, most of which sits above 1800 metres elevation. Engelberg-Titlis is considered one of the best places to experience “big mountain skiing”. Due to the sheer magnitude of the ski resort, we highly recommend a guide until you are comfortable navigating on your own.

Like most ski resorts in Switzerland, terrain is ideally suited to intermediate level skiers and snowboarders but also has 28% for beginners and 17% for the advanced to expert riders. The Titlis ski area boasts modern lifts, gondolas and the famous Titlis Rotair cable car, which rotates its way up the summit.

Engelberg also has great non-ski activities, it’s paradise for those that love a stroll, with lots of winter walking trails, a cliff walk on a suspended bridge, and ice walk through the glacier. There is also Sledding, Snowmobiling and snowtubing available, or for the more relaxed holiday there are plenty of excellent alpine restaurants and bars to explore. There’s one thing that’s not permitted in Engelberg – boredom. The resort is central Switzerland’s home for activities and there is something to keep just about every adventure seeker happy.

Titlis Area: 2000 metres of altitude from the glacier down to the village make skiing and snowboarding fun. Most of the pistes are guaranteed snow from December to April. On top of the glacier you can even ski from October to May. On the lower slopes around the Trübsee, Gerschnialp and Untertrübsee there are numerous easy downhill runs.

Brunni Area: The sunny side of Engelberg - On the Brunni, the sunniest pistes in Central Switzerland invite you to enjoy skiing and snowboarding. A total of 7 kilometres of perfectly groomed pistes are available. A secret tip is the black Schonegg slope with the most beautiful view of the mountains around Engelberg.

Bannalp Area: There are two family-friendly ski lifts on the Bannalp for leisurely skiing and snowboarding. Six blue and one red slope offer snow fun for all ages.

Zurich international airport is only 100 kilometres from Engelberg, which takes just over an hour by car or just under 2 hours if you choose to go via train. The trip itself is stunning, as you go through the Swiss landscape passing by several lakes and riding slowly uphill to the Alps.

Once you arrive, Engelberg a very easy to get around, the train station is right in the village and the close to hotels. There are free shuttle services that stop in front of most hotels and service all the mountains in the area. If you prefer, there are also taxi’s.

Dining and Apres in Engelberg

The bar at Ski Lodge is a great meeting spot with live acts, pub quizzes and movie nights and the bar opens from 3pm until midnight and serves burgers and snacks as well.

On-Mountain the Skihütte Stand does Swiss cuisine with a large selection of fine wines. Chalet Apres Ski is located at the gondola lift and opens from 3pm with DJs and live music, on Friday and Saturday nights they also serve fondue.

Core Irish bar in town have lots of beer and whiskey to choose from or of course wine, and if you are hungry the home-made pies are a great way to warm the insides.
