Lake Louise Overview:

Located in the province of Alberta, in the Rocky Mountains is Lake Louise. The city of Calgary is the best access point by air, and only 2 hours drive out to Lake Louise.

Lake Louise provides easy access to Banff National Park, Lake Minnewanka, and Moraine Lake, the Icefields Parkway and Johnston Canyon. The region is dramatic and breathtaking from every angle.

Easily accessible from Lake Louise are the surrounding ski resorts of Ski Big 3; Mt. Norquay, Banff Sunshine and Lake Louise ski resort. Accommodation Overview:

The small town of Lake Louise offers houses and a small number of hotels, including the iconic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. The famous Chateau offers all the luxury hotel facilities, and plenty of activities for in house guests and visitors to enjoy. Lake Louise is only 45 minutes from Banff, so many visitors choose to spend time in both places during their Banff - Lake Louise ski holiday.

Mountain Information:

Lake Louise is a great base for 3 major ski resorts. Lake Louise ski resort holds the title as Ski Big 3’s largest ski resort covering a huge 1700 hectares. Soak in the best views in Banff National Park as you soar up the lifts, or as you make wide open turns on your way down the mountain. Lake Louise also has a sightseeing gondola for the non-skiers who still want the opportunity to take in the breathtaking views from the peak.

Mt Norquay is the smallest of the Ski Big 3 resorts and located closest to the town of Banff, only a 10 minute shuttle from town.

The third resort is Banff Sunshinem which is famous for its natural snow quality, and has a great variety of terrain to choose from for all levels of riding ability. Banff Sunshine is home to Canada’s first heated chairlift, making it the perfect destination for the coldest winter days.

How to Get to Lake Louise:

From Australia, there are lots of different entry points into Canada and your best option does depend on what you do for your entire holiday, is quite common for visitors to visit more than one place! The city of Calgary is the best access point by air for those flying into this part of Alberta, and only an 2 hour drive out to Lake Louise.



Things to do in Lake Louise:

There are countless activities to enjoy in the Banff - Lake Louise area, the hard part is fitting everything into your holiday! Here are a few favourites for you to try and squeeze in between days on the slopes. Rug up, and try ice skating on Lake Louise, a horse drawn sleigh side or head to Canmore and try dog sledding!

Visiting the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louse is an experience in itself and is recommended to any visitors of Banff and Lake Louise. In January each year, Lake louise has the Winter Ice festival. There are spectacular ice sculptures, ice castles, and family friendly fun round the Lake.

Our ski tips for Lake Louise

Getting There:
Frequent direct flights connect Calgary International Airport (YYC) to many cities across Canada, US, UK, and the rest of the world. From there, Banff is an easy 90 minute drive along the all-weather, four-lane Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy #1) and Lake Louise is a scenic 45mins further west. Scheduled transfers are available and run to/from Calgary International Aiport and Downtown Calgary daily. It is important to provide, arrival and destination accommodation, flight times and lead passenger details at the time of booking transfers to ensure times line up and are most suitable for you.
Getting Around:
There are taxi’s, public transit and shuttle services available to get between Lake Louise and Banff. The main shopping and dining district of the town of Banff is within easy walking distance of many hotels. Included in every Tri-Area lift ticket is the complimentary ski shuttle service that runs regularly to all three ski resorts. Making it easier than ever to get between the ski areas!
