This mountain also has the highest summit in California, standing at a whopping 11,053.
 
Those visiting Mammoth will be delighted with its historical charm and modern facilities. The town of Mammoth Lakes is the perfect location to be situated, hosting an array of hotel and apartment style accommodation options, as well as dining and shopping. The town and the mountain are easily accessible with a handful of chairlifts and gondola skiers and snowboarders can utilize.

Where to stay in Mammoth

Mammoth offers accommodation options to suit most if not all travelers. Guests have a choice of lodges, mountain inns, hotel and apartment style options. Some properties offer ski-in, ski-out access, whilst others are a short walk to the base of the mountain, or within walking distance to the mountain shuttles. There are three main base areas where guests can base themselves which include Eagle, Canyon, and Main Lodge.

Mammoth Mountains’ array of 3,500 acres offers a wide variety of terrain, including 7 terrain parks with 3 halfpipes, bowls, groomers, and steep glades. The mountain has terrain for beginners through to advanced riders who are looking for a steep and thrilling ride. Mammoth Mountain also has a mammoth season, which typically runs from November through to June.
 
Mammoth Mountain is also on the Ikon pass. The Ikon Pass isn’t your standard lift pass, this pass gives holders access to a selected mountains in destinations around the world, including Canada, Australia, Europe, Japan and the United States. This is great for shredders who are looking to ski and snowboard both Northern and Southern Hemispheres, or those looking to do a multi-destination ski holiday.

Getting around mammoth is a breeze with their complimentary public transport system. Skiers and snowboarders can easily access the 3 base lodges, and Mammoth Lakes. Mammoth also has a on demand dial-a-ride service year-round.

Getting to Mammoth Mountain is quite convenient, with the mountain located just 30 minutes from Eastern Sierra Regional Airport/ Bishop (BIH). Most Major airlines will have connecting routes to local airports.
Things to do in Mammoth in Winter
Mammoth is known for its steep terrain, which is what draws people to this incredible mountain. However, Mammoth does also offer off-piste activities that are sure to leave fantastic memories.
 
Some of our favorites include ice skating, tubing, sledding, and snowmobiling. Mammoth also offers snowcat tours where guests can experience backcountry terrain in the comfort of a snowcat.
 
Mammoth Lakes is a year-round operating town with local boutiques, premium outlets, and local stores.
