Dr Ian Hoong

Ian has been a surgical assistant since 2011. In addition to his surgical work, he collects bone marrow biopsies for a pathology company in Brisbane. Throughout his career, Ian has attended numerous conferences and has often been frustrated by the high costs and the limited content relevant to medical surgical assistants.

From 2018 to 2025, he led The Brisbane Assistants’ Guild (TBAG), a Brisbane-based educational group for surgical assistants. Ian is now expanding his focus to international medical surgical assistant education.
