Jungfrau Ski Region

Located in the Swiss Alps, the region of Jungfrau is made up of two valleys, three mountain ranges and 211 kilometres of perfectly prepared pistes.

In the Jungfrau ski region snow fans can enjoy activities of all types and be in their element. The winter paradise with the backdrop of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau offers skiers and snowboarders everything their hearts desire: gentle slopes, steep drops, snow and fun parks, racing tracks and powder parties.

 
Where to stay in Jungfrau

There are three main ski resort areas in Jungfrau; the largest is Grindelwald Ski Resort which shares a ski ares with Wengen Ski Resort. These are the most popular and well known for international ski travellers. The third is Murren Ski Resort, which was made famous by the James Bond movie “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”.

 
Each ski resort offers its own accommodation to suit the quintessential Swiss ski holiday experience one would expect. No matter which resort you ski, you are guaranteed incredible views and amazing snow.
 
Skiing and Snowboarding Jungfrau

Combined the Jungfrau region has and incredible 72 lifts in the form of trains, gondolas, cable cars and surface lifts and actual chairlifts. There are over 200km’s of terrain and incredible, long runs to explore. The Swiss alps also boast 2174m of elevation, which offers incredible verticals.

 
A very pretty, historic, year round resort, Grindelwald Ski Resort the largest area in the Jungfrau region, which also shares a region with neighbouring Wengen Ski Resort. If you are chasing long runs and epic views, then Grindelwald is perfect! One of the best runs is a casual 8kms and runs from Oberjoch back to Grindelwald. While the terrain is ideal for intermediate and expert skiers and snowboards, there are also a few beginners lifts & magic carpet lifts and a ski school located at the Bodmi Nursery slopes, which are easily accessed from town.
 
Wengen Ski Resort A very picturesque car-free ski resort, which is home to Europes highest rail station, the site of the world-famous Lauberhorn race. Wengen Village has a spectacular back drop of the Eiger as well as the Mönch and Jungfrau. Intermediate riders will be most impressed by all that the Jungfrau top ski area has to offer, with many long, wide open runs above the tree line. Beginners will find suitable learning slopes in Wengen, with friendly and efficient English-speaking schools and the added bonus of another beginner area up at Wengeneralp.
 
Murren Ski Resort is one of the prettiest ski resorts in the Alps, Perched on the edge of a cliff. Getting to Murren is quite an experience but it's well worth the effort. Murren truly is a delightful Alpine village and one of the cradles of Alpine skiing.
 
Murren is the Bernese Oberland's highest ski area and although quite limited in extent, offers incredible views of the cliff faces and peaks of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau which dominant the landscape on the far side of the Lauterbrunnen valley. There's good skiing between 1,500m and 3,000m including some challenging off-piste and fast descents for skiers.

Jungfrau is south of the popular swiss resort town of Interlaken is accessible via train from Zurich airport. Rail is definitely the most cost-effective way to get to swiss ski resorts, but there are private transfer options as well. The villages of Wengen, Gimmelwald and Murren are all car free, so even if you choose to hire a car, you will need to leave the car n Layterbrunnen and use rail, cable car or bus, (or a combination) to get to the ski resort.
