From the airport it only take just over 45 minutes to reach this awesome resort. Sun Peaks is known for having an excellent ski school, impeccable resort facilities and it’s unique ski-through village makes it ideal for families looking to “flop and drop” once they get to their resort. Sun Peaks is ideal for the little ones with dining, snow activities, and terrain all available a short stroll from the main village.

If you are looking for something off the beaten track, which combines skiing with a cultural element, then we would highly recommend a family ski-cation to Shiga Kogen. Flying into Tokyo, you will have the option of bus transfers or travelling on one of Japan’s famous bullet trains to the mountain, an experience everyone will enjoy.

Shiga Kogen boasts family friendly facilities, traditional Japanese cultural activities and as Japan is known for, huge snowfall. Shiga Kogen also has snow play areas in a few locations throughout the resort and childcare options, perfect for the days when parents are wanting to shred that fresh Ja-Pow.

We recommend families stay at the Prince Hotel Shiga Kogen, which includes buffets and a great selection of dining options that cater for most palates. The Hotel also offers equipment hire on site and convenience stores for those crucial midnight snacks. Shiga Kogen is Japan’s highest and largest ski resort, offering a wide variety of terrain to suit all ages and levels of riders
