Since 1793, Hotel Croix Blanche has welcomed travellers to the heart of Chamonix, and its position on the town’s main pedestrian street is still its biggest drawcard. Step outside and you’re among cafes, boutiques and après bars, with the Brévent gondola around 500 metres away, roughly a six minute walk. No car, no shuttle timetable and no early morning scramble, just boots on and a short stroll to the lifts.

 

Getting on the slopes is easy with an on-site ski rental service and a dedicated ski room. You can collect your gear without leaving the hotel and leave wet skis and boots behind at the end of the day. Each morning starts with a buffet breakfast to fuel big days on the mountain.

 

The 35 rooms are cosy and full of character, and no two are the same. Each has an en suite, free WiFi, TV, mini-bar and an in-room safe. Some overlook the garden, while others look toward the Mont Blanc massif.

 

When the lifts close, settle onto the Mont Blanc facing terrace at the hotel’s brasserie for regional Savoyard dishes, or catch live music in the relaxed bar. Non-skiers are well placed too. The Montenvers train to the Mer de Glace glacier is about seven minutes on foot, and the Aiguille du Midi cable car is close by.
