Our Teams Guide to Skiing in Aspen Snowmass
Mysnow Holidays are lucky enough to have had more than 10 of their ski specialists head to Aspen in the last few season, so we asked them to share their feedback from the experience.
Tell us about skiing in Aspen?
Mason: Aspen Snowmass has something for everyone! Fantastic wide green runs for beginners and families that aren't too steep, and there is also some steeper, more challenging runs with obstacles such as trees and
little kickers for riders looking to challenge more experienced riders.
Marty: Aspen is awesome, two villages, accommodation in all price ranges, no crowds, 4 mountains to ski, amazing terrain, and friendly staff! Aspen Highlands Bowl was my favourite run. Really fun hike to
the top and amazing powder run down. Snowmass is my favourite mountain in Aspen, due to its super long runs and fun terrain for all abilities.
Loz: While skiing Aspen (AJAX) stop for lunch at Sundeck, the views are spectacular and there are so many options to suit all palettes. It's a great option if you are travelling with non-skiers, because they can meet you there with a quick ride on the Silver Queen Gondola, and if you are too full after lunch, you can gondola down!
Em: You can ski-in, ski-out from Snowmass Village or Aspen if you're an intermediate rider - but don't miss the opportunity to explore all four mountains! It's super simple to catch the free shuttles, Buttermilk is awesome for beginners, and Highlands is incredible for more experienced riders.
Were there any secret spots in Aspen, to get away from crowds?
Mason: Elk Camp Gondola was very quiet, and it felt like we had the whole top of the mountain to ourselves.
Marty: Too many to choose from, there were no crowds anywhere!
Ella: Hike Highland Bowl, while there are lots of people on the way up, once you get on the slopes, it feels like you have the whole place to yourself.
What was your experience with Equipment Hire in Aspen?
Mason: Four Mountain Sports was amazing to rent from! Their ski valet service was fantastic, getting my board to which ever mountain we planned to shred without me having to worry! It was waiting there for
me each morning and the staff were super friendly.
Loz: I love hiring gear in places like Aspen, they always have the best stuff! Hiring gear is a great way to try new products or brands before you commit to buying gear or upgrading.
Best (non-ski) Activities in Aspen?
Mason:
1. Ice Skating and Après at The Collective. You can ice skate for free at the ice rink outside The collective in Snowmass and it's BYO drinks! Great option for a family day off the slopes. The Collective also has
and awesome games room for the kids to enjoy.
2. Alpine Coaster on Snowmass.
3. Hot Tub soak at your accommodation!
Marty: For families, the Elk Camp snow coaster is awesome. Aspen has awesome shopping, or spend a day relaxing at one of the many day spas.
Loz: If you love Colorado's Cowboy culture (and a culture moment) a personalised Kemo Sabe hat will be the perfect keepsake. Make sure to check out Duchess and the Dude for amazing, one of a kind vintage pieces!
Grace: Aspen has a really rich mining history, a ghost tour is a very unique experience if you want something totally different.
Tam: There are some restaurants and bars to explore in Aspen, Tam suggests Sunset happy hour at Venga Venga in Snowmass.
Aspen Hotel Recommendations?
Fave Hotel Aspen
Mason: The Gant Aspen. The Gant has some awesome outdoor hot tubs and a heated pool for guests to use! They also have an awesome cafe for breakfast and a barista made coffee. The rooms were amazingly spacious and luxurious.
Marty: The Gant. Great location, friendly staff, and really nice apartments.
Aspen's Best Luxury Hotel
Mason: The Little Nell Aspen and One Snowmass
Marty: The Little Nell Aspen.
Loz: The Jerome was amazing, excellent service, large rooms and make sure to grab a drink at the famous J-Bar.
Em: The Viceroy is an awesome ski-in, ski-out option in Snowmass, the Spa is incredible.
Grace: The W is a funky ski-in, ski-out option - we loved sitting around the firepit for après.
Best Aspen Hotel for Families
Mason: Limelight Snowmass as it's right in the centre of Snowmass with some large family rooms.
Marty: The Crestwood Snowmass or The Timberline Snowmass.
Best Budget Hotel Aspen
Mason: The Crestwood Snowmass, The Timberline Snowmass and for Aspen, Aspen Square Hotel.
Marty: Stonebridge Inn.
Loz: Capitol Peak or Timberline Condo's are bothgreat options in Snowmass.
What are your fave dining options in Aspen?
Mason: Any of the accessible restaurants on the mountain were fantastic, however for me Ullrhof Restaurant and Bar had an amazing burger selection that really hit the spot after a morning of snowboarding.
The burgers were what you would expect from America, big and delicious!
Tam:Venga Venga, the Tequila bar/Mexican restaurant in Snowmass had some amazing Mexican food and some delicious cocktails.
Grace:Dinner at Chica next to the Little Nell Residences is amazing, high-end dining - an unforgettable experience.
Marty: Chica Restaurant under the Little Nell Residence was incredible for a fine-dining experience! Get a cookie from Up 4 Pizza on Snowmass Mountain, they do fresh cookies, made in a pizza
oven!
Em: The on-mountain dining in Aspen is excellent, if I had to choose a fave, Elk Camp on Snowmass Mountain was great or Sundeck on AJAX (Aspen Mountain).
Best Place for Aprés in Aspen?
Mason: Highlands Alehouse was an amazing place to après. The restaurant/bar was directly at the bottom of the main run back into Highlands which made it super accessible and busy! They had a sweet
DJ set, and everyone was having an amazing time grooving and relaxing after a long day on the slopes.
Marty: Skye Bar at the W Hotel, it's a rooftop bar with DJ's and a swimming pool
that anyone can use.
Em: Silver City was a fun little bar with a duke box so you can choose the vibe (which may or may not have been a Taylor Swift tribute). They have pool tables as well.
Loz: Buck was a great spot for a few drinks, it was packed and everyone was on a good vibe, great food and drinks as well.
