Sun Peaks Ski Resort
Sun Peaks Overview:
Located in the heart of beautiful British Columbia, Sun Peaks is a short 45-minute transfer from Kamloops airport. Approaching the resort, the landscape drastically changes from an arid desert landscape, to the lush, pine forests of this spectacular alpine bear country. The location cultivates unique weather patterns which deliver dry powder snow to Sun Peaks Resort. The average winter temperature hovers around -5C, meaning the snow is unlikely to melt and refreeze, leaving you with a delightful light, dry snowpack. Sun Peaks boasts the most sunny days per year of any ski resort in British Columbia, meaning you can just about bank on getting those perfect blue bird ski days in!
Sun Peaks Accommodation Overview:
Sun Peaks offers a wide range of accommodation choices for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy. Friendly lodges welcome guests needing a place to rest after a long (probably sunny) day on the mountain or if you prefer, enjoy the convenience of a hotel with all the amenities. Larger groups, families and friends can enjoy a condo or townhouse all to themselves, a convenient home away from home for their ski holiday. No matter your accommodation choice, you will be ideally located to the slopes and all that Sun Peaks Resort has to offer.
Mountain Information:
Offering you the second largest skiable terrain in Canada, the surrounding peaks of Mt Tod, Sundance, Morrisey and Orient have been thoughtfully designed to bring skiers back to Sun Peaks Village. The 4270 acres of skiable terrain offer beginner, intermediate and advanced runs on each peak, so groups of mixed skiing and snowboarding abilities can ride the lifts together, and still ski their preferred terrain to their hearts content.
Getting Around Sun Peaks:
On foot, one plank or two planks (AKA snowboard or skis for those at the back). Sun Peaks is a walkable ski resort, remember to pack those après boots! If your legs have turned to jelly after a long day on the slopes though, there is a local village shuttle to get around the hotels and restaurants.
Things to do in Sun Peaks:
Sun Peaks offers a huge range of activities for when you are not skiing or snowboarding; with no shortage of options, the trick is trying to fit everything in! All the classic Canadian winter experiences are on offer in Sun Peaks, like snowmobiling, dog sledding, fat biking, ice skating and snowshoeing. For something different, try the night-time snowshoe tour by torchlight which ends with s’mores by the fire!
Best Après in Sun Peaks:
Sun Peaks has a great selection of après ski options, but whether it’s your first or tenth visit, you can’t go past classic Canadian après locations like Morrisey’s Public House and Bottoms in Sun Peaks.
Best Restaurants in Sun Peaks:
Poutine is arguably the most famous Canadian dish and Chez Joe Poutine offer all the poutine variations you can poke a fry at! They also do a damn good hot dog. Another excellent option for Canadian cuisine, with notable French flair is the Voyageur Bistro, try Bison Carpaccio, Bannock or an Elk Burger for something different. For casual dining visit Sun Peaks fave Mantles for all day dining options for the whole family, tucked inside the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel or try Mountain High Pizza, all day and night, every day of the week. Buy by the slice or get the whole pie If you’re planning to cook in your condo or self-contained apartment during you time at Sun Peaks, or for between-meal-snacks visit the Bluebird Market in the village. Finally, no visit to Sun Peaks ski resort is complete with a visit to Baby Doh’s. Although not technically a meal, donuts are an ideal snack for a carb loading sugar hit, and they’re fresh and warm! Grab some cinnamon coated energy boosts between any of the above listed activities. Map of Sun Peaks
