The Canadian Rockies Fairmont Properties Where to Stay for a Luxury Ski Holiday
I've been lucky enough to experience all four Fairmont properties in the Canadian Rockies and they're every bit as magical as you'd imagine. Each is completely unique, but just as spectacular as the next. The staff always go above and beyond, the food is incredible, and there’s something about walking through the doors of a Fairmont that feels like a real pinch-me moment. A standout feature of Fairmont hotels is the exclusive Fairmont Gold experience. Fairmont Gold guest rooms are located on their own dedicated floors, includes a private check-in, exclusive concierge service and guest lounges. It combines luxury with a more personal, tailored experience for every guest.
Fairmont Chateau Whistler
Fairmont Chateau Whistler
I was lucky enough to have experienced a magical stay with the Fairmont Chateau Whistler over the Christmas period and it truly felt like a movie. The decorations, the atmosphere, it was a white Christmas dream come true. What I loved most was how easy everything felt. Not only is the Blackcomb gondola, cafés, restaurants and shops right on your doorstep, but the service within the hotel is just as seamless. The concierge and ski valet teams were incredible, always one step ahead and genuinely want to make sure you have the best stay. It truly was above-and-beyond service, particularly from the ski valet team. They either deliver your skis directly to your room or store them for you and have them ready within seconds when you arrive at their private ski valet room. At the end of the day, you can ski directly to their exclusive guests-only chalet, hand over your skis to the valet team and unwind by the fire with an incredible hot chocolate while watching skiers make their final runs down the slopes.
Fairmont Banff Springs
Fairmont Banff Springs
Fairmont Banff Springs honestly felt like stepping into a real-life fairytale. With huge snow-capped mountains and the most charming Canadian town, it holds the most incredible views I've ever seen. While you'll need to catch a shuttle to the ski hills, having three different mountains to choose from is a great trade-off. The hotel itself is breathtaking, and I could have happily spent days exploring. One of my favourite things was the resort activities. From roasting marshmallows by the fire and stargazing tours to snowshoe adventures and even an ice-skating rink on the roof! There was always something special to do. If you wanted to take a break from the hotel, the town of Banff is beyond charming. The historic buildings, snow dusting the rooftops and fairy lights twinkling throughout the streets make it feel like a Hallmark movie brought to life. There are countless boutique shops, incredible restaurants, and welcoming local bars to spend your days off the slopes exploring.
Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
Nestled amongst towering mountains with the iconic frozen Lake Louise right on your doorstep; its spectacular. I found it to be the most serene and romantic of all the Fairmont’s. While most visitors will experience Lake Louise during the daytime, staying at the Fairmont Château Lake Louise unlocks an entirely different side of this world-famous destination. As the daytime crowds disappear, the frozen lake and surrounding snow-covered peaks take on a magical, exclusive atmosphere. You step outside the hotel to be greeted by the tranquil mountains and the stillness of the evening, creating the feeling that it is all yours. Coming from the hustle and bustle of Banff, seeing the lake completely free of crowds and enjoyed only by us as hotel guests was honestly an unforgettable and surreal experience. It's the kind of place that makes you slow down and simply soak it all in.
Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge was probably the biggest surprise for me and in my opinion, super underrated. It's a completely different experience, with luxury cabins and lodges spread throughout a peaceful lakeside setting. At night, the stars completely light up the sky and everything feels wonderfully quiet. The drive to Jasper is just as memorable as the stay itself. We spotted mountain goats and even bears along the way, which made it feel like a true Canadian wilderness adventure. Make sure to take some photo stops at Peyto Lake and the Athabasca Glacier too. If you're looking to slow down, switch off and truly relax, I can't think of a better place to do it.
Ready to Experience a Canadian Rockies Fairmont Yourself?
Please don't ask me to choose a favourite because I genuinely can't. I loved them all! Whichever you choose, I have no doubt it'll be a stay you'll be talking about long after you've left.
