Elizabeth Elizabeth is a privately-owned hotel, located midway between the centre of the village with its restaurants and shops, and the Nagasaka gondola station. Surrounded by restaurants, bars and only a short walk to the Yu Road to take you to the Hikage slopes. This family-owned small hotel is one of a kind, offering incredibly comfortable and cosy accommodation to guests at an affordable price.The hotel is family owned and run, meaning attention is paid to each and every guest. The small number of rooms in the building also means the atmosphere is intimate and welcoming, and both the owners and the staff will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. This includes helping you organize your daily trips or dinner reservations as well as ensuring your room is clean and well maintained. Wi-Fi is offered throughout the hotel but, as always, it can be a little unreliable. There's no onsen within the hotel, but the closest public one is only a two minute walk away. Guests are also provided with a small bathroom amenities package, which they are encouraged to use at the onsens around town, and the staff will be sure to tell you the insider tips about which onsens are the best to visit.

A traditional machiya style house where you can live in authentic Japanese style! Himecho is located at the foot of the Yu Road moving walkway with direct access to the Hikage ski area, and is close to Ogama, the spiritual heart of the village. It is a historic machiya-style townhouse, unique in Nozawa Onsen, and accommodates families or groups of up to 12 adults comfortably. Come and experience a holiday steeped in tradition. Himecho’s five simple, comfortable rooms are typical of bedrooms in a traditional village house. You’ll be sleeping on futons on tatami, although your futons will be built up for a softer feel as generally preferred by our non-Japanese guests. All bedrooms are spacious and bright spaces. A private dining area on the first floor, as well as a sitting room on the ground level next to the entrance hall or genkan provide comfortable spaces to enjoy some board games or chilling out after a day out. Traditional Japanese homes do not have ensuite facilities. Toilets are a few steps down the hallway near the bedrooms, and there is a spacious ofuro bathroom on the ground floor. Don’t forget though, there are also Nozawaonsen’s famed public onsens with therapeutic waters you must try!
There are several "soto-yu” or public baths within easy reach of Himecho. Since the Edo period, Nozawaonsen has been famed for the waters of its different onsen “soto-yu”. You will often spot visitors and locals wandering around the village in yukatas, with towels thrown around their necks and toting a basket of toileteries, on their way to enjoying the different waters. James House: James House is a 4 bedroom house with traditional tatami rooms that can accommodate up to 12 people. This cozy little house is family-friendly, with books and toys for children and a well-equipped kitchen. The drying room is convenient for airing and storing ski gear. James House is only a 5 minute walk to the Karasawa ski area, the town centre, and to the Nakao bus stop. There are 3 twin bedrooms and 1 room large enough for 6 people. The bedding is Japanese-style futons. One of the twin bedrooms includes an ensuite toilet. On the ground floor, there's a traditional Japanese hot bath and 2 common toilets. There is no car access during winter. Parking is available nearby at Karasawa Parking.

Kalik House: Kalik House is a traditional, warm Japanese house located in the centre of the Nozawa Onsen village. It’s an easy walk to everything that you may need. The shops and most of the restaurants are less than 5 minutes walk and the slopes are only 10 minutes. Kalik house features two tatami rooms with ample storage that can accommodate up to 10 people on futons. The common areas include a tatami living room, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with shower and a second shower room, washing machine and dryer. The living room can be used as a bedroom. It has parking for one small (“kei”) car in the summer, however there is no car parking during winter.

The Ryokan itself has recently undergone major renovations and, over the past few years, each of the rooms has been updated with new amenities and facilities added. This means the inclusions are modern and the rooms are immaculately well kept, as are the range of ryokan offers.
This also means many of the rooms, while traditional, are exceptionally modern - the design is comfortable and appealing while being warm and cosy and the furniture is all of a high standard. One of the ryokan's most beautiful features, though, is its onsens. The ryokan offers a range of indoor onsens alongside some stunning open-air ones, both for female and male, which are naturally heated and mineralized and the ideal way to relax after a long day. The spaces are open and tranquil and an emphasis has been placed on natural materials and connection to the landscape.

Pure Nagasaka is an ideal destination for both ski enthusiasts and those who'd like an experience of authentic Japanese hospitality. While it's not flashy, the ryokan is affordable, well maintained and offers great facilities to all guests.
There are a range of Japanese and western style rooms, each with television and Wi-Fi access and, of course, heating. Guests use shared bathroom facilities, but with a total of ten rooms they don't get too crowded.
The ryokan also has a cosy dining hall that offers meals for breakfast and dinner for guests. The food is mainly Japanese cuisine, but there are a few western options available at breakfast.

Sakura: A brand new house, completed in Feb 2023, this exceptionally well-appointed, three-bedroom home is located in the oldest district of the Nozawa Onsen village close to Kumanotearaiyu, reputedly the very first onsen in the village. This gorgeous property has underfloor heating throughout, 3 ensuite bedrooms (one with a panorama bath) with western bedding, for up to 6 people. A loft area can accommodate 3-4 small children on futons. Equipped with a full entertaining kitchen, living area (with gas flame fireplace, smart TV, and built in sound system), dining area and a home office area, Sakura is pet-friendly and well suited to accommodate all of your needs. Schanze Nozawa Ski Lodge in Nozawaonsen is just steps away from the main gondola station Nagasaka. We feature 9 guest rooms. We have rooms which are traditional Japanese rooms with futons on tatami mats so that guests can truly enjoy a wonderful Japanese ski experience. Guests who are holidaying with their families may prefer the traditional Family Lofted Rooms, a duplex featuring separate sleeping area for the parents and kids. Guests who prefer the comfort of western beds will be pleased with the newly constructed Junior Studio and Family Studio (opened in season 20172018). We are also renovating the Junior Studio and Family Loft Studio (both with Attached Bathroom) to be completed for the 2018/2019 season opening. The rooms mentioned are western-styled with either private or attached bathroom. All Studios come with a kitchenette and resting area. Our Family Studio also comes with its own kitchenette, TV, dining, and an entertainment system to keep the kids busy.

Tokiwaya offers a glimpse into Japanese culture, featuring a multitude of rooms each with its own distinctive décor, yet all containing traditional architecture, tatami flooring and complimentary yukata robes for guests. There are a variety of rooms to easily accommodate groups of two to four, making it an ideal destination for couples or families. The hotel also features its own Japanese restaurant, which serves breakfast and dinner each day. The cuisine is authentic traditional dishes that bring exciting flavours and fresh, local ingredients together. If you're looking for some variety, though, you're located in the centre of town and finding other dining options definitely won't be an issue. The hotel also features a number of naturally heated and mineralized onsens, each of which is surrounded by tranquil décor and natural materials that help ground and relax each visitor. Paired with a massage, it's the ideal way to spend a relaxing afternoon. The hotel also happily treats guests to ski rental services and the friendly, English speaking staff are more than happy to help arrange transport, ski passes or day trips around the area. You definitely won't be at a loss in regards to keeping yourself busy. The hotel itself is quite old, which both lends charm to its character and traditional atmosphere and shows in the rooms. Some wear and tea is visible throughout the hotel, but the facilities are kept clean and tidy for all guests. So, if you don't mind your tatami mats a bit worn, you're sure to enjoy yourself at Tokiwaya Ryokan.

Property Description: Winterland is a boutique ski lodge located in the centre of Nozawa Onsen Village, just opposite the Chuo Bus Terminal. Al rooms have a private ensuite bathroom and shower. The free Shinyu Pair Lift and Yu Road (moving walkway) are a 5-minute walk away. The new Gyoza Bar is on the second floor of Winterland and the lodge rooms are on the third floor. Both overlook the main square with the free Yokochi Hot Spring right across the street and a number of other onsens within a few minutes walk from Winterland Lodge. Location: The Shinyu Pair Lift is 240 metres away (4-5 minute walk) and the Yu Road is a 5-6 minute walk from Winterland Lodge.
